Job Description Description Position Summary Assist patients and
health care needs as directed by clinician during Emergency
Department visit including performing 12 lead EKGs, blood draws,
initiate Hep-locks, bedside point of care testing, aerosol
treatments. Ensures the daily completion of point of care testing
quality controls, defibrillator checks, refrigerator checks,
transports. Performs ABGs and gain IV access as directed by order.
Prepares patients and care environment for exam, specimen
collection and anticipates needs of patients and providers
proactively. Performs delegated basic procedures as described by
their annual competency based tool and orientation program.
Required For All Jobs - Performs other duties as assigned. -
Complies with all policies and standards. - For specific duties and
responsibilities, refer to documentation provided by the department
during orientation. - Must abide by all requirements to safely and
securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our
patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies
and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in
the workplace. Qualifications QualificationsEducation - Other
Accredited Program Graduated from a state accredited paramedic
program Required Work Experience - 3 years Paramedic Experience
(Level II) - 5 years Paramedic Experience (Level III) OR Associates
degree and 3 years’ experience Bachelors of Science degree in
Emergency Medical Services OR classroom/clinical instructor (ACLS,
PALS, ITLS, BLS instructor) Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities - Able
to communicate effectively with people from varied socioeconomic
backgrounds; able to organize changing work assignments. Required -
Medical terminology desirable. Preferred - Patient care equipment
specific to assigned population, telephone, beeper system, and
nurse call system. - Three Peer Reviews required for Level II and
III - Criteria to Promote and Maintain (five for Level II; seven
for Level III) Licenses and Certifications - Basic Life Support
(BLS) - Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Additional Licenses
and Certifications - State of Ohio Paramedic Certification
required. Required - PALS (exception CMC) Required - Paramedic
Specialty Certification (doesn’t include BLS, ACLS, ITLS, PALS, or
NRP) ; required for Level II & III) Required - - Physical Demands -
