Job Description Description A Brief Overview /n Assist patients
and health care needs as directed by clinician during Emergency
Department visit including performing 12 lead EKGs, blood draws,
initiate Hep-locks, bedside point of care testing, aerosol
treatments. Ensures the daily completion of point of care testing
quality controls, defibrillator checks, refrigerator checks,
transports. Performs ABGs and gain IV access as directed by order.
Prepares patients and care environment for exam, specimen
collection and anticipates needs of patients and providers
proactively. Performs delegated basic procedures as described by
their annual competency based tool and orientation program. /n
Additional Responsibilities /n /n - Performs other duties as
assigned. /n - Complies with all policies and standards. /n - For
specific duties and responsibilities, refer to documentation
provided by the department during orientation. /n - Must abide by
all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health
Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of
Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address

Other Accredited Program Graduated from a state accredited
paramedic program (Required) Work Experience - 3 years Paramedic
Experience (Level II) () - 5 years Paramedic Experience (Level III)
OR Associates degree and 3 years’ experience Bachelors of Science
degree in Emergency Medical Services OR classroom/clinical
instructor (ACLS, PALS, ITLS, BLS instructor) () Knowledge, Skills,
& Abilities - Able to communicate effectively with people from
varied socioeconomic backgrounds; able to organize changing work
assignments. (Required proficiency) - Medical terminology.
(Preferred proficiency) - Patient care equipment specific to
assigned population, telephone, beeper system, and nurse call
system. ( proficiency) - Three Peer Reviews required for Level II
and III ( proficiency) - Criteria to Promote and Maintain (five for
Level II; seven for Level III) ( proficiency) Licenses and
Certifications - Basic Life Support (BLS) () - Advanced Cardiac
Life Support (ACLS) () - State of Ohio Paramedic Certification
required. Upon Hire (Required) - PALS (exception CMC) within 6
Months (Required) - Paramedic Specialty Certification (doesn’t
include BLS, ACLS, ITLS, PALS, or NRP) ; required for Level II &
