Job Description:
This is an opportunity to join a fast-paced program with DCS
Corp’s U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command - Ground
Vehicle Systems Center engineering group located in Warren, MI. You
will work alongside our U.S. Army Software Engineering Center
customer, applying your knowledge and skills by providing technical
engineering services that support Ground Vehicles and the emerging
technologies. Essential Job Functions: Apply System and Software
Safety Engineering skills in support of the development of software
requirements, architecture, design, code and test for the Vehicle
Protection System (VPS) Program. Apply safety knowledge to support
incorporating safety processes within the current organization
processes. Required Skills: Due to the sensitivity of customer
related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required. Bachelor of
Science degree or higher in related engineering or science
discipline. 8 years of experience in System Safety or related
engineering discipline is required. Must be able to obtain and
maintain a DOD Secret clearance. The candidate should be a
self-starter, and have strong organizational, communication, and
leadership skills. Experience in a leadership role as a Safety
Engineer is preferred. Strong knowledge of MIL-STD-882E, AOP-52 and
the Joint Software System Safety Handbook (JSSSEH). Experience with
Product Development Life Cycle (Systems, Software) supporting the
development of Organizational System Safety Program Plan (SSPP) and
development and execution of a Software SSPP (SwSSPP). The System
Safety Engineer is responsible for the execution of the SSPP on
assigned Military program(s) by providing effective system safety
engineering support to Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) through
identification and analysis of potential hazards in design,
operation and maintenance. Performance of and/or support to Hazard
analyses such as System Hazard Analysis (SHA), Subsystem Hazard
Analysis (SSHA). Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA), Fault Tree
Analysis (FTA), Functional Hazard Analysis (FHA) and Safety
Assessment Reports (SAR). Responsible for identifying and tracking
new Safety requirements and providing criticality and Level of
Rigor assessments including Software Criticality Indexes using
MIL-STD-882E, AOP-52, and the Joint Software System Safety Handbook
(JSSSEH) as Safety standards. Performing safety reviews verifying
the execution of Software Level of Rigor (LOR) tasks based on the
assessed software criticality index. Preparation of data packages
and briefing material for System Safety Review Boards. Desired
Skills: Preferred software development experience and the MISRA C++
guidelines for developing software in critical systems.
